Numaan is an Oromo word which means “By us”. Numaan, Inc. is built with the strong belief that people are capable of finding solutions for the social problems that are preventing them from accessing opportunities and achieving their full potential. Social problems also cause opportunity gaps that create discrepancies in how people treat each other with integrity and dignity.
Any social problems begin in individual households and villages. Even small problems can feel too big and too intimidating to solve. When problems seem so big and intimidating, we look to governments and large NGO’s for solutions and are often disappointed with the results. But learning from experience, if we unravel the layers of those problems and work with each other, those problems are not as overwhelming and it is possible for ordinary people to find solutions.
Numaan will work with communities to help them identify issues and inspire people to develop solutions that are creative and appropriate to the needs of the community. We will work with one household, one village, one school, at a time to inspire and mobilize individuals to do the doable and be successful change-makers.
